Ram and Dodge Dominate in 2019 J.D. Power APEAL Study
The results of the 2019 J.D. Power APEAL Study (Automotive Performance Execution and Layout) had a clear message for car buyers: FCA brand vehicles are clearly the most appealing. Of all the industry’s mass-market brands, Ram and Dodge (two FCA brands) nabbed the first and second spots, respectively.
Leaping the Leaderboard
This was an especially great achievement for Ram, which had the largest increase in score over the previous year out of any of the 33 brands that were represented in the study. This study measures how emotionally attached drivers feel to their vehicles. There were 18 brands in the mass-market study and 15 in the luxury study.
In total, Ram earned 851 points out of 1,000, marking a 26-point increase over its score in 2018. Dodge was not far behind, having earned 848 points.
“These outcomes validate our continuing focus on the voice of the customer,” explained Mark Champine, Head of Quality, FCA North America. “We have listened and we are still listening — more intently than ever.”
Specifically, the Dodge Challenger earned the top spot in the Midsize Sporty Car category, the second time it has done so in three years. The Chrysler Pacifica took second place in the minivan segment while the Dodge Durango and Charger each earned the second spot in the Midsize SUV and Large Car categories.
