New FCA Sales Record Set in 2018

February 2nd, 2019 by

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles ended 2018 with an absolute bang. After posting extremely high sales throughout last year, the Italian-American carmaker has finally finished the year off with brand-new sales records.

Jeep Leads the Pack

Guiding the new FCA sales record was Jeep®, which sold a total 973,227 vehicles in 2018. That is a 17 percent increase compared to 2017’s 828,522 vehicles, and a number that also beats the previous sales record that was set in 2016. These record sales were helped by the Wrangler, which saw a 45 percent year-over-year sales increase in December. The Wrangler was also named Jeep’s best-selling vehicle in 2018 with a total of 240,032 models sold.

Big Ram Success

Ram also broke its previous sales record, thanks in part to its December sales. In December, the truck brand saw a 37 percent year-over-year increase in vehicles sold and delivered an annual total of 597,368 vehicles.

Dodge Makes History

Dodge’s sales record was helped by the hype surrounding the Dodge Demon, making it easy for the brand to sell 66,716 Challenger models — a number that outsells its Camaro rival. The performance-oriented brand also experienced a 17 percent sales boost in December and a 3 percent increase in overall sales.

As a whole, FCA managed to deliver a total of 2,235,204 vehicles in 2018. This is a 9 percent increase compared to 2017 and highlights how consumers are looking to purchase more vehicles similar to the ones that Fiat Chrysler specializes in.
