History of Chrysler | Dallas, GA

Chrysler is one of the most recognizable brands on the road today. The lineup may be small but the amount of dedication and precision incorporated into each vehicle's manufacturing process has led to a legacy few can forget. The company has been hit by hardship and reorganization but managed to survive its early years and grow substantially since then. Known for its feature-packed, efficient, and stylish cars, Chrysler is a true force in the modern auto industry.

Unlike many brands, Chrysler rose from the defeat of the Maxwell Motor Company. Through reorganization, Chrysler launched its first vehicle in 1924 under the Maxwell name. Known as the 70, it held a six-cylinder engine and was offered at an affordable price.

The 1924 70 paved the way for innovation and technological advancement. A high compression engine, oil filter, and carburetor air filter were just a few of the breakthroughs within the 70. In the following years, Chrysler would mass produce four wheel hydraulic brakes.

Chrysler has been dedicated to the safety of its drivers since the beginning, as proven with the development of the road wheel with a ridged rim. The innovation was eventually adopted by the entire auto industry. The rim was designed to keep a flat tire from leaving the wheel.

In 1925, Chrysler officially dropped the Maxwell name. Their dedication, development, and innovation ultimately led to the automaker maintaining second place in the auto industry from 1936 to 1949.

Shortly after its initial success, Chrysler began diversifying. In the late 1920s, Chrysler bought the Dodge Brothers and launched the Fargo truck line. In 1987, Chrysler acquired Jeep. The Ram truck line became its own marque in 2009. Most recently, in 2011, Fiat joined forces with Chrysler.

Today, Fiat Chrysler provides a wide range of vehicles across its brands, ensuring their dedication to the customer is as forward as it was in 1924.
